About the Owner

Greetings All!

I am Ashtyn. The sole owner of Urban Roots. Proud to be a woman of color and social-equity member of the cannabis industry.

I am 36; an international consumer of unique apparel and art, cannabis, and food. Traveling to different countries has made me a more compassionate leader; has expanded my perspective on life and has exposed me to diverse cultures.

My visit to Amsterdam inspired and clarified my vision to own a luxury lounge and cannabis coffee shop; complete with luxe day spa and yoga. Visits to cannabis lounges in Spain ignited the idea of owning cannabis shops where patrons could safely consume cannabis and interact with others in a setting extremely unique and inviting.
I personally curated and cultivated the brand Urban Roots. In 2016, I founded King City Collective-a non-storefront cannabis business. Additionally, I am founder, owner and CEO of Authentic Sole, a luxury men’s fashion and sneaker boutique located at the Westfield Galleria, an upscale mall located in Roseville, California.

Authentic Sole was first launched in 2012 inAtlanta, GA and relocated to Sacramento, California in 2016.

As a child, I was taught to give back to my community; specifically in the space of feeding the unhoused and volunteering time to worthy community initiatives. Giving back to community is very important and UR supports and implements initiatives to better the lives of our people and communities.

UR is a strong advocate and supporter of building strong relationship and partnerships with others. We believe in working with local community organizations to educate residents on responsible safe, medicinal and legal cannabis use for adults.

So incredibly proud to call Sacramento the home of Urban Roots.

As a minority and social- equity business owner; I am strongly committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, equitable workplace. We strive to cultivate a positive work environment where people feel included, valued and believe this is a great place to work.

Also, I personally understand the travesties associated with the Drug War and how it has disproportionately harmed communities of color, and therefore I am extremely passionate about providing jobs, challenging assignments and management opportunities for all, especially those communities disproportionately affected.
